Welcome To The Shield
The Shield, presented by SDR Academy, is Canada’s premier female spring hockey experience, which is built for athletes born between 2011 and 2014 who are ready to raise their game and proudly represent their province. This one-of-a-kind event unites top players from across all 10 provinces and 3 territories, divided into six elite regional teams, to compete in a best-on-best series in front of scouts from Prep Schools, Universities, and Professional organisations. From the first try-out to the final championship game, The Shield is about growth, exposure, and provincial pride — all while creating unforgettable moments on and off the ice.

Canada’s top young talent faces off in a multi-stage format designed to challenge, develop, and highlight the best, from try-outs to the final championship. Athletes will represent their province with pride, wearing custom gear and colours as they compete for The Shield and showcase the strength of their region.

Tryouts & Applications
Tryouts: $145
The journey begins with provincial tryouts in select hub locations across the country. Athletes take part in two high intensity ice sessions run by professional evaluators to test skills, compete level and hockey IQ. Evaluations are handled by a panel of neutral, experienced hockey professionals to ensure fairness and quality in selection. If you cannot attend a regional tryout you may still be considered for a direct invite to a team. This stage is about opportunity, competition and earning your place on The Shield roster.
