Ryley Lindgren

Meet Ryley Lindgren, one of the dedicated hockey coaches at SDR Academy. Ryley is a current professional hockey player and coach for SDR Academy, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team.

As a coach at SDR Academy, Ryley brings his passion for the game and his experience as a player to his coaching style. He focuses on building strong relationships with his players, emphasizing the importance of communication and teamwork on and off the ice. More importantly, he also places a strong emphasis on the mental game, helping his players to develop the confidence and resilience they need to succeed both on and off the ice.

Throughout his career, Lindgren’s work ethic and dedication to the game set him apart. He was known for his leadership skills, which he honed as assistant captain during his time in Lethbridge, Swift Current, and Mount Royal University.

Growing up in East St. Paul, Manitoba, Lindgren started playing hockey at a young age in Winnipeg, going on to be drafted in the WHL by the Brandon Wheat Kings. He played 5 years in the WHL for the Wheat Kings, Lethbridge Hurricanes, and Swift Current Broncos – scoring 69 goals, 98 assists suiting up for 259 games. He played for Team Manitoba (’11-’12) and earned a Silver Medal at the U16 Western Championships, and further representing Team Canada West at the U17 World Hockey Championships. Off the ice, Ryley also played at the U20 World Junior Ball Hockey Championship for Team Canada (silver medal).

Following his Junior career, Ryley played 5 years with the Mount Royal University Cougars earning his degree in Psychology, being named to the U-Sports West 1st All Star Team (19-20), and to the U-Sports All Star Team 2X (’20, ‘21). After school, Lindgren signed his first professional deal in the ECHL with the Norfolk Admirals, and then the Tulsa Oilers in 2022. He just finished his second professional season in Europe and plans to continue his career in there for next season.
