SDR Canada Ice Hockey Training Academy and National Sport School

National Sport School Program x SDR Partnership

Elevate your hockey skills with the National Sport School Program, in partnership with SDR Academy, designed for female hockey players in Western Canada.

This comprehensive program includes a balanced schedule of on-ice and off-ice training sessions, all held at world-class facilities like WinSport. In addition to expert coaching, athletes will benefit from specialized instruction in areas such as nutrition and sports psychology, ensuring holistic development as both athletes and individuals.

Competitive acceptance ensures a high standard of training and education. The application process includes interviews with both the National Sport School and SDR Academy coaches.

Program Overview

The SDR Academy x National Sport School partnership offers young female athletes in Grades 8 through 12 the unique opportunity to balance academic growth with elite hockey training. This program allows participants to attend school at NSS while accessing specialized hockey training before or during school hours. Zoom passcode:  %J#j3rcy

  • Scouting Opportunities: SDR Academy actively promotes athlete profiles to university and college scouts across Canada and the U.S., enhancing opportunities for post-secondary recruitment.

Training Schedule

The training schedule is designed to fit around the athlete’s academic and minor hockey team commitments, providing flexibility and focus on both individual and team development.

  • September to March:

    • 2 on-ice sessions and 1 off-ice session per week, or

    • 2 off-ice sessions and 1 dryland session per week (held before or during school hours).

  • April to June:

    • 3 on-ice sessions and 2 off-ice sessions per week, or

    • 2 on-ice sessions and 3 off-ice sessions per week, scheduled during or after school hours.

Off-ice sessions include workouts, mobility training, recovery sessions, and classroom sessions for mental and tactical learning.

Application Process

To join this prestigious program, applicants must complete both the SDR Academy and National Sport School application processes. Interviews are held to ensure each athlete's suitability, and decisions are based on a combination of athletic potential and academic commitment.

Applications are now closed for the 2025-2026 SDR Academy x National Sport School High Performance Program! This is an amazing chance for female athletes in Grades 8-12 (born 2008-2012) to train at top-tier facilities while attending school.

Program Duration:

September 2025 – June 2026
Expert-led sessions in nutrition, sports psychology, and fitness training.
